Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, TX
Contract value: $4.6M
ESA replaced the roof and lightning protection system on this active medical facility. The scope of work included replacement of a safety handrail system and damaged electrical conduit; installation of EPDM roof system; and replacement of roof drains and blocking, curbing, and flashing. The lightning system was removed and replaced with a new UL rated system. Our teams are trained to be able to adapt and pivot, if necessary, when working at active medical facilities. Our team was notified during several sensitive medical events that required work to cease in each location to allow for optimal medical care and emotional sensitivity. Immediately upon notification we were able to cease all construction activities in this immediate area that would have been distracting and disrupting to the patient’s needs and quality of care. We quickly regrouped and adjusted our order of execution and timeline to meet the needs of the patient and medical team with zero negative impact.
